Digital cameras are revolutionizing underwater photography
and making it more accessible to the consumer. In the
past, only two options existed for underwater photography:
(1) professional equipment that could cost thousands
of dollars, or (2) cheap, single-use disposable cameras
that were commonly sold to tourists. However, these
disposable cameras offered poor quality, taking the
pictures underwater through the viewfinder was nearly
impossible, and developing the film to find only a couple
of good quality pictures was discouraging to most users.
Today, digital cameras present
a solution to all these issues with both dedicated
underwater cameras and cases that fit many of the
cameras available on the market.
